The many true masks hidden behind the human beings lack of motivation can only be discovered through one’s own inner reflection and then be put to an end. According to numerous studies done between the years 2019-2022, it was calculated that 31 percent to 40 percent of older adults struggled with the fear of failure while numbers continuously rose reaching 60 percent to 70 percent within our younger adults. It was also found that 85 percent of our current population battles with low self-esteem, while a shocking 95 percent of our population struggles with finding their purpose. The reason these findings are being stated is because low self-esteem, lack of purpose, and fear of failure have been recognized as being some of the strongest driving forces behind the human beings lack of motivation.
One may wonder how fear of failure, also known as Atychiphobia, develops within one’s own self. Factors such as past experiences, negative self-perception, societal pressures and perfectionism are at play. Human beings who view themselves negatively and/or believe others view them negatively are less likely to bring things into action in order to avoid criticism from the outside world or even from themselves. Ones who have gone through traumatic experiences such as punishments or criticism for making simple mistakes, often shape this sense of belief that making mistakes is never acceptable, therefore do not put themselves in a position to make one. Societal pressures are everywhere; it can be difficult for the average human being not to compare themselves to the next. Seeing another succeed, gain achievements, or seem to be in a better position in their life can lead to major blows in one’s self-worth. Perfectionists tend to set unrealistically high expectations for themselves, causing fear and anxiety if unable to live up to that expectation given to oneself.
"If a person is aware of all these facts and recognizes their reality and truth, then it is only up to their motivation and will to use everything in such a targeted way that their thoughts and feelings stay on the positive path and everything is changed positively, affirmatively and optimistically for their own well-being."

Each individual that struggles with low self-esteem ought to ask themselves how that came to be. Is it due to childhood experiences? Negative life events? Societal pressure? One of the hardest things for human beings to do is self-reflection. This requires looking inward to one’s own actions, behaviors, experiences and how they have deeply impacted the current life and personality. In closer relation to experiences, it is urged to reflect on relationships with parents/guardians, other family relationships, failed friendships, societal engagements and past romantic relationships that perhaps displayed negative behaviors and words towards oneself that may have contributed to low self-esteem. Once the human being is able to pinpoint the origin(s), they are able to tackle it head on, recognize that others doings are not a reflection of oneself, and truly get on the path to healing and gaining self-worth and confidence.
The core belief that human beings are inherently good, have a need to belong and contribute to something good and bigger than themselves is what drives the human being by nature to find their purpose. However, how does one find their purpose? This question and answer has been made more difficult than need be. The path to all human beings finding their purpose is a personal journey of self-discovery, to understanding one’s own strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes, passions, and what brings true joy and fulfilment into one’s everyday life. It is encouraged to try new things and step out of the comfort zone. Moreover, ask yourself these questions. What is important to you? What sparks your curiosity and enthusiasm? What comes naturally to you? The answer will be different for everyone. Always remember that there is no wrong answer!
